Peugeot 4008 cylinder pressure fluctuation

I'm having a weird issue with my 2012 Peugeot 4008 diesel. It's got almost 300,000 km on the clock. Recently, I've noticed the fuel consumption is way up, and the engine doesn't feel like it has the same oomph. Plus, the check engine light is on. I had it checked, and it says there is a cylinder pressure fluctuation, but the mechanic didn't seem sure what the actual cause was! He mentioned something about it maybe being a 'consequential error'. Fuel injector, camshaft, timing belt, turbocharger, head gasket – he threw out a bunch of possibilities. Has anyone else run into this?

I also have a Peugeot 4008. I remember having a similar issue a while back with the check engine light and the feeling of reduced power. Was the engine light flashing or constantly on? Also, did you notice any unusual noises coming from the engine?

The light is constantly on, not flashing. And no, no weird noises, at least none that I've noticed. It just feels sluggish, and my wallet is a lot lighter from all the extra fuel I'm burning!

Mine turned out to be a tricky one. I wouldn't waste too much time or money on it. Take it to a proper workshop. They will do a proper diagnosis and let you know what's wrong with it.

I did take it to a different workshop, and you won't believe it – the cylinder pressure fluctuation was a ghost code! Turns out a sensor was faulty and causing all sorts of erroneous readings, but mechanically everything was fine. They replaced the sensor, cleared the codes, and now it runs like a champ! And the best part? The repair was completely free!
