Peugeot 4008 fuel flap issue

Hi, I'm having a frustrating issue with my 2014 Peugeot 4008 diesel. The fuel flap release has stopped working. I'm getting an error stored in the error memory, and I can no longer lock or unlock the fuel filler flap. To top it off, some other functions of the vehicle are now unavailable. I've checked the fuses and tried using the key fob to release it, but no luck. I suspect it might be a defective linkage, if there is one. Has anyone else experienced this?

Summary of the thread

A 2014 Peugeot 4008 diesel has a fuel flap release issue, with the flap unable to lock or unlock and other vehicle functions becoming unavailable. The problem might be due to a defective linkage or actuator, as suggested by a similar issue in a Volvo V60. Checking the cable release behind the trunk trim is recommended, but professional diagnosis and repair are advised, as it could be an electrical fault or faulty actuator.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

That sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my old Volvo V60, although the symptoms weren't exactly the same. The fuel door wouldn't open, and it turned out to be an electrical fault. Did you check the cable release behind the trunk trim?

Interesting! I hadn't thought about checking behind the trim. Where exactly was the cable release located in your Volvo? I'm wondering if the 4008 has a similar setup.

On the Volvo, it was on the right side, behind the carpet in the trunk. Honestly, it was a pain to get to, and even when I found it, it didn't solve the problem. Eventually, I had to take it to a workshop. They diagnosed it as a faulty actuator. If you've checked the fuses and the key fob isn't working, it's probably best to get it professionally diagnosed. It could save you a lot of time and frustration.

Thanks for the info! I was hoping to avoid a trip to the mechanic, but it sounds like that's the best course of action. I'll book it in and see what they say. For reference, it ended up costing 210€ to get fixed. They told me it was a defective actuator, just like you mentioned with your Volvo.
