Peugeot 4008 immobilizer issue

Hi, I have a 2016 Peugeot 4008, gasoline engine, 88342 km on the clock. Seems like I've got an immobilizer problem. Engine won't start, or sometimes starts briefly then dies. There's an error code stored too. Any ideas?

Hey, I had a similar issue with my 4008. Symptoms sound the same - engine cuts out. Immobilizer is an anti-theft system that uses a transponder in your key to communicate with the car's ECU. If the ECU doesn't recognize the key, it won't allow the engine to run. Did anything happen before this started? Like, battery died or anything?

Battery's fine. I've tried both keys, same result. You said similar issue – what was it exactly?

Right, yeah, mine was also intermittent starting then cutting out. Turned out to be the key programming. The transponder signal wasn't being read correctly by the car. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop to get the key reprogrammed. Cost me about 45€ to fix. Could save you a lot of headaches trying to diagnose it yourself.

Thanks for the tip. Got it sorted at a local garage, new key programming. Exactly as you said. Cheers!
