Peugeot 4008 Misfire

My 2016 Peugeot 4008 (gasoline engine) is giving me grief. It's done 174833 km and now the engine's running rough, stalls at idle, the check engine light's on, and it's jerking like crazy when I accelerate. I'm pretty sure it's a misfire. I've checked the spark plugs, and they seem okay. Could it be the ignition coil? I noticed the cable or plug connection of the component might be defective. Any ideas before I lose my mind?

Hey, sounds frustrating. I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane. Same symptoms – rough running, stalling. For me, it was also the ignition coil pack. Have you run any vehicle diagnostics to confirm the misfire?

Yeah, I've got a basic OBD2 scanner. It's throwing a misfire code, but it doesn't say which cylinder. How did you know for sure it was the coil pack on your Megane? And what did you do to fix it?

Okay, so a misfire code is definitely a start. With the Megane, the mechanic used a proper diagnostic tool to pinpoint the faulty coil. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop; they can test each coil individually. It's a pain, but better than guessing!

Cheers for the advice! Took it to a workshop, and you were spot on – defective ignition coil. Cable or plug connection of the component was indeed defective! They replaced it, and it's running smooth as butter now. Cost me 95€.
