Peugeot 4008 Oil Pressure Warning

Hello, I have a 2012 Peugeot 4008, gasoline engine, with 184868 km. Recently, a warning light appeared on the speedometer, and the oil pressure warning lamp lights up. Could the exceeded maintenance interval be the cause?

I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra. The symptoms sound familiar. Was the oil changed recently, and was the correct oil filter used? Sometimes using the wrong filter can cause pressure issues. Also, have you checked the oil level? Low oil level combined with old oil can definitely trigger those warnings.

The oil change was a while ago, yes. I haven't checked the filter type, but I'll look into it. Could this lead to consequential engine damage?

It's certainly possible if the oil pressure is consistently low due to a blocked filter or oil sludge buildup. Continued driving under those conditions could accelerate wear on engine components. I would advise against driving and suggest having it checked by a workshop as soon as possible.

Thanks for the advice. It turned out the maintenance interval was indeed exceeded. I had the oil and filter changed, it cost me 165€ and the warning lights are gone.
