Peugeot 4008 Overheating Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Peugeot 4008 diesel is experiencing overheating issues, with the check engine light on and coolant leaking, possibly due to excessive pressure in the cooling system. The problem might be related to a control unit communication error, potentially caused by a faulty cable or plug connection. A similar issue was resolved by checking connections with a multimeter and using car diagnostics, leading to a repair cost of 95€.

Interesting! You mentioned a faulty connection. Was it obvious, like a corroded plug, or something more subtle? Did you need any special tools to diagnose it? I'm trying to avoid a huge bill from the mechanic if I can!

For me it wasn't obvious at all. Everything looked fine at first glance. It was only after some careful probing with a multimeter that the bad connection was identified. Best is to check with car diagnostics at the workshop. I ended up at the workshop and a bill for 120€.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to my local garage and they found it was indeed a defective cable or plug connection. Car diagnostics showed a control module communication fault and they charged me 95€ to fix it. I really appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my old Volvo V70. Same symptoms: overheating, check engine light, and coolant leaks. Turned out to be a faulty connection somewhere in the control module wiring. Have you checked the cable and plug connections to the various components? A defective connection is often the culprit.
