Peugeot 4008 tailgate hall sensor fault

My 2016 Peugeot 4008, gasoline engine, is throwing a tailgate hall sensor fault at 189848 km. The error is stored, and the tailgate doesn't open completely. I've checked the sensor wiring, but haven't found anything obvious. Anyone else had similar issues before I start looking for broken wires or a bad plug connection?

An intermittent or total failure of the automatic tailgate, with a stored error code for the hall sensor, suggests a defect in the sensor's electrical circuit. Visual inspection can miss things; the issue might be the sensor or a less visible wiring fault. Have you tried recalibrating the sensor? Sometimes that fixes sensor issues.

I haven't tried recalibrating the sensor; I don't have the tools. Can I do that with a basic OBD2 reader, or do I need specialized equipment?

Recalibration isn't likely to fix it permanently if the sensor is defective or the wiring is damaged. A generic OBD2 reader might not work and could cause more problems. Get the sensor and wiring inspected by a qualified technician. That will ensure a correct diagnosis and prevent unintended consequences from DIY repairs.

Took it to the workshop as suggested. It was a faulty connection as suspected. Cost 95€ to fix. Thanks for the insight.
