Peugeot 4008 Transfer Case Oil Issue

Alright Peugeot gurus, I'm tearing my hair out here! My 2012 Peugeot 4008 (gasoline engine) is giving me grief. It's got 83043 km on the clock and I'm pretty sure the transfer case oil is worn out. The gearbox is slipping and shifts are super unclean. Could it be defective gears in the transfer case? Anyone else had this?

I had a similar issue with my 4008. Gearbox felt rough. Have you checked the transfer case oil level and condition? Grinding noises while shifting?

Thanks for the quick reply! Yeah, I checked the oil – it's dark and kinda sludgy. And yep, a bit of a grinding noise sometimes, especially going into 3rd. Was it definitely the transfer case in your case?

Confirmed. Those symptoms point to the transfer case. Those defective gears caused the oil wear. I'd suggest a workshop visit to be sure.

Thanks so much! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on! They confirmed it was the transfer case, gears were worn. Cost me 330€ for the repair but at least it's sorted! Appreciate the help!
