Peugeot 406 ABS Fault

My 2000 Peugeot 406, gasoline engine, is throwing up an ABS fault. The ABS lamp lights up and the system is totally disabled. Diagnostic error memory points to the lateral acceleration sensor and the control unit might be defective. I've only done 46908 km! Anyone else had similar?

I had something vaguely alike on my 406. ABS light, system failure. The lateral acceleration sensor, also sometimes called a yaw rate sensor, is part of the electronic control system that works with the steering angle to keep the car stable. Was it doing anything weird before the light came on?

Weird how? The only thing I noticed was the steering felt a TINY bit vague a few days before, but honestly, I thought I was imagining it. You reckon it's definitely the sensor, or could it be wiring?

Well, mine turned out to be the sensor itself. Could be wiring, I suppose, but those sensors are known to go. Given the age of these Peugeots, the electronic control unit is likely degraded. To be honest, I'd bite the bullet and get it booked into a workshop before it causes a safety warning to show up.

Cheers. Appreciate the confirmation. Workshop it is then. It WAS the sensor, plus the control unit was indeed defective. Cost around 1000€ all in. Ouch!
