Peugeot 406 Audio and Navigation Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Peugeot 406 experienced complete audio and navigation failure, with diagnostic scans indicating a MOST bus fault. The issue was suspected to be related to a control unit or possibly the amplifier in the trunk. After checking fuses and consulting a workshop, it was confirmed that a defective control unit within the MOST bus was the cause. Replacing the unit resolved the problem, restoring audio and navigation functionality.

Thanks! Could you tell me how you diagnosed the amp in the trunk? Any specific indicators or tests?

Honestly, I didn't do much diagnostics myself. I poked around a bit, checked the fuses (you should do that first!), but then I took it to a workshop. They have the proper tools to diagnose these fiber optic nightmares. Given your symptoms, it's probably the MOST bus like you said. Prepare for pain – these issues aren't cheap.

Thanks for the help! A workshop confirmed a defective control unit within the MOST bus, and I had to replace it. The repair cost 1000€. But the audio and navigation are working again. Your advice helped a lot!

Hey, I had a similar issue with my 406, no sound, nav dead, the whole shebang. MOST bus, fiber optics... sounds familiar. Did you check the amp in the trunk? That was my problem, it just died. But yeah, could be any module on that loop.
