Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, the display is completely blank. I haven't checked the cable and plug connections yet, as I'm not sure where to find them. Could you give me some pointers on where to locate the climate control unit's connections? Is it easily accessible, or do I need to remove parts of the dashboard?

Ah, a completely blank display narrows it down somewhat. Given your expertise level and the potential complexity of accessing the relevant wiring, I would strongly advise against dismantling the dashboard yourself. Considering the stored error code and the likelihood of a defective cable or plug connection as the root cause, a visit to a qualified workshop is the most prudent course of action. They possess the diagnostic tools and expertise to pinpoint the exact fault and rectify it efficiently. Why risk causing further damage?

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a local workshop as you suggested. Turns out it was indeed a faulty connection as you suspected. They fixed it for 95€. Now the climate control panel works like a charm again!

Oh dear, a non-functional climate control system in a Peugeot 406 is rather unfortunate! The symptoms you describe – error codes, poor heating, and a non-responsive AC – do suggest an electronic fault. Have you inspected the cable and plug connections to the climate control unit itself? A loose or corroded connector could certainly cause such issues. Is the display on the climate control panel completely blank, or are there any signs of life at all?
