Peugeot 406 combustion misfires

I am experiencing combustion misfires in my Peugeot 406, built in 2004, with a gasoline engine. The car has 220520 km on the clock. Symptoms include rough engine running, the check engine light illuminating, jerking when accelerating, and reduced engine power. I suspect a defective injection valve/injector. Can anyone offer insights?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Peugeot 406. Is the check engine light flashing or solid? When mine was jerking and losing power, it turned out to be a faulty ignition coil. Think of it like a bad spark plug connection. Easy to check!

Thank you for your response. The check engine light is solid, not flashing. Regarding the ignition coil, did you experience the issue constantly, or was it intermittent? Were there any specific error codes?

Mine was intermittent at first, then became constant. It’s like a dripping faucet that eventually becomes a flood. I didn't have the equipment to read the codes myself back then, so I took it straight to the workshop. They diagnosed it pretty quickly. Probably best to get yours checked properly.

Understood. Thank you for sharing your experience. I appreciate the advice. I'll get it to a workshop for diagnosis. For anyone interested, it turned out to be a defective injector valve, which cost 515€ to repair.
