Peugeot 406 fuel sensor issue

Yes, the fuel gauge is indeed acting up! Sometimes it reads empty when I know there's fuel, other times it seems okay. It's incredibly inconsistent and pretty annoying when driving. Do you know which fuse it was, or how to find the faulty sensor?

Unfortunately, I don't recall which fuse it was, but it definitely was in the fuse box under the steering wheel. I would suggest checking the fuses one by one, or consulting the car's manual. In my case, the sensor itself went bad eventually and I had to visit a workshop to have it replaced, since it is inside the fuel tank.

I appreciate the insight! I will check all the fuses and look for any damage. You are likely right about the workshop visit. I had a local garage take a look - faulty fuel sensor. It cost me 52€. Thanks again for the help!

I had a similar nuisance with my Peugeot 406. My car dashboard was constantly showing me all sort of errors. Is the fuel gauge acting erratically as well? If so, it could very well be the fuel sensor. I think that there is a dedicated fuse, check the fuse box, its location should be in the owner's manual under 'fuel system'. It's worth a look before you assume the entire sensor is kaput.
