Peugeot 406 immobilizer issue

Hi, I'm having a strange issue with my 2000 Peugeot 406 diesel. It has 223775 km on the clock. The engine won't start, or sometimes it starts briefly and then cuts out immediately. I scanned the error memory and there's an immobilizer error stored. I'm suspecting it's a key programming issue? Has anyone experienced something similar?

I had a similar problem with my 406. Does the immobilizer light flash rapidly on the dash when you try to start it?

Yes, the immobilizer light does flash rapidly when I try to start. What did you do to fix the issue? Was it indeed the key programming?

Yes, that's exactly what mine did. It sounds like the same issue. I'd suggest getting the key reprogrammed. The best course of action would be to visit a workshop.

Thanks for the info. I took it to a workshop and you were right, the key programming was incorrect. They reprogrammed the key, and the car now starts fine. It cost me 45€, so pretty reasonable.
