Peugeot 406 injection fault

Hey, I'm having trouble with my 2002 Peugeot 406 diesel. At 51275 km, the injection system seems faulty. It's got higher fuel consumption, reduced engine power, stalls at idle, and smokes during acceleration. I'm thinking it could be a bad cable or plug connection. Any ideas?

I had a similar problem with my 406. Have you checked the electrical connections to the injectors themselves? A loose or corroded connection can cause those symptoms. Also, has the engine management light come on?

Thanks for the suggestion. Are there specific areas on the electrical connections to the injectors that are prone to corrosion or loosening I should check first? And yes, the engine management light is on.

Given the engine management light and that you've checked connections, I'd get it diagnosed by a professional. It does sound like the connectors; in my case, it was connector three. Diagnosis should pinpoint the exact issue before you spend money on parts.

Got it. Thanks for the confirmation and advice. I took it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis. It was indeed a defective plug connection, and the repair cost 95€
