Peugeot 406 intake air temperature sensor fault

My 2002 Peugeot 406 diesel has the check engine light on and reduced power. The error memory shows a fault with the intake air temperature sensor. Could a bad sensor cause the rough running and the error?

I had a similar issue with my 406 some time ago. Was the temperature reading plausible when you checked it with your diagnostic tool? Maybe the sensor is just giving bad data.

Thanks. I did check the temperature reading, and it seemed implausible. Do you think replacing the sensor will fix it, or could there be other things wrong?

Replacing the sensor fixed it for me. But if the problem continues, you might need to look at other things. Since the temperature reading is implausible, it's worth having a workshop replace the sensor.

Thanks for confirming. I went to a workshop, and the intake air temperature sensor was bad. Replacing it for 155€ fixed everything.
