Peugeot 406 Keyless Entry Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Peugeot 406 experienced a keyless entry failure, suspected to be a wiring issue. The problem was isolated to the driver's side door, suggesting a localized issue with the door handle wiring or connector. Inspection should focus on wire damage, such as cracks or fraying, and the connector plug for corrosion or loose pins. A workshop confirmed a defective cable/plug connection in the driver's side door handle, and the issue was resolved with a repair.

It's just the driver's side door. I haven't inspected the wiring harness yet. What should I look for?

Driver's door only suggests a localized issue. Look for wire damage – cracks, fraying, exposed copper. Check the connector plug for corrosion or loose pins. Think of it like a weak link in a chain. Given the cost, it's best to let a workshop handle this. Have them check the door actuator too.

A workshop diagnosed a defective cable/plug connection in the driver's side door handle, as suspected. The repair cost 95€. Thanks for the help!

Electrical gremlins can be vexing. Your symptoms point to the door handle wiring or connector. They degrade over time with use. Have you checked the door wiring harness where it passes into the door? That's a common failure point due to flexing. Is it just one door, or all of them?
