Peugeot 406 Uneven Idle
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Peugeot 406 was experiencing uneven idling, potentially due to a defective engine mount or a bad cable or plug connection. A similar issue was resolved by checking the engine mount, which was found to be the cause of the problem. After taking the car to a workshop, the defective engine mount and its connections were repaired, resulting in smooth engine performance.

Interesting! By rubber mount, are you referring to the engine mount itself or a transmission mount? And was your issue constant, or did it come and go?

Yeah, the engine mount, the big rubbery thing. Mine was pretty constant, got worse over time though. Honestly, I'd get it checked at a workshop. Could be dangerous if it fails completely. That's what I did, anyway!

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a shop, and you were right – it was the engine mount. The cable or plug connection of the component was defective. Repair cost me 95€. Runs smoothly now!

Hey! I had a similar issue with my 406, although I never checked the error memory. It felt like the whole car was shaking at idle. Have you checked the rubber mount? I'm guessing that's where the vibration issues are coming from.
