Peugeot 407 Audio Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Peugeot 407 diesel is experiencing a complete audio system failure, with no sound and an unspecified error code. The issue may be due to a defective head unit, which could require replacement and coding to the car's system. A workshop visit is recommended for proper diagnosis and repair, as confirmed by a similar case where the display was defective.

Fuses are all good, I already checked those. No other electrical issues present. Head unit replacement, you say? Was it a straightforward swap, or did you have to mess with any coding or anything like that?

In my Renault, the head unit was integrated with the car's computer, so it needed to be coded to the car after replacement. Considering your Peugeot is a similar vintage, I'd suspect yours might be the same. Unless you're comfortable with that kind of thing, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They'll be able to diagnose it properly and code a new unit if necessary. Better safe than sorry.

Appreciate the insight! Sounds like a trip to the workshop is unavoidable. It was a defective display, as suspected. Repair came out to 725€. Thanks again!

That sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane. The whole audio system just died. Did you check the fuses? It could be a simple fix, but in my case, it was the head unit itself. Have you noticed any other electrical weirdness in the car?
