Peugeot 407 Diesel Stalling and Power Loss

Peugeot aficionados, my 2004 Peugeot 407 diesel with 257373 km is having issues. The check engine light is on, the engine stalls at idle, and power is low. I suspect the fuel volume regulator because the high-pressure pump seems faulty. Has anyone else dealt with this?

Sounds frustrating. I had similar symptoms with my old Saab 9-3: check engine light, rough idling. It turned out to be a faulty sensor related to the fuel system. Could it be something similar?

Interesting! A fuel system sensor on a Saab? Was it causing a noticeable power loss? Did it throw any specific error codes? I want to avoid replacing the entire high-pressure pump if it's just a sensor.

Yeah, power loss was definitely part of it. I didn't dive too deep myself. I took it to a trusted workshop, and they diagnosed it quickly. They had equipment to pinpoint the failing sensor.

Okay, I hear you. Time to surrender to the professionals. I just got a quote for 1510€, high pressure pump defective, so that confirms my suspicion. Thanks for sharing your Saab saga; it helped me prepare for the workshop visit!
