Peugeot 407 Electrical Fault

I'm experiencing an electrical fault with my 2005 Peugeot 407 (gasoline engine). The vehicle starts poorly, and I've identified that terminal 30 (continuous plus) is interrupted. Mileage is currently at 135034 km. Could this be a heavily discharged or defective battery? What other components should I test?

Hey, I had something similar with my 407. Same symptoms. Have you checked for any voltage drop across the battery terminals when you try to start it? Could be a bad cell in the battery. Also, a parasitic draw somewhere could be the culprit, slowly draining the battery when the car is off. By interrupted, do you mean fluctuating voltage or complete loss of power?

Thanks for the swift reply. By interrupted I mean fluctuating voltage. When you experienced this issue, did it occur intermittently or was it a consistent problem? I will check the voltage drop as you suggested. Did you measure the voltage while the car was idle and during start?

Ah, fluctuating voltage points more to a battery or alternator issue, or even a bad ground connection. Mine was consistent, got worse over time, turned out the battery was toast and the charging system wasn't doing its job properly. Honestly, with those symptoms, I'd recommend getting it checked at a workshop. Electrical gremlins can be a pain to track down.

Understood. I appreciate the insight. It seems prudent to seek professional assistance. Indeed, it was a defective battery – the repair cost reached 290€. I will also have the charging system inspected. Thanks again.
