Peugeot 407 Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Peugeot 407 diesel exhibited warning lights, smoke during acceleration, and a failure of the DPF to regenerate. These symptoms suggested a potential issue with the exhaust back pressure sensor. After consulting with others who experienced similar issues, it was confirmed that the sensor was indeed the problem. Replacing the sensor resolved the issues, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Yeah, it does feel a bit sluggish, especially uphill. Was it definitely the pressure sensor for you? Any idea what the damage was?

Yep, turned out to be the exhaust back pressure sensor. Honestly, I'd get it checked at a workshop to be sure. It could be something else, but the symptoms sound very familiar.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to the shop, and you were spot on - exhaust back pressure sensor. Cost me 245€ all in. Runs like a dream now.

I had almost the exact same symptoms with my 407. It was indeed something with the exhaust system. Does it also feel a bit sluggish when accelerating?
