Peugeot 407 Glow Control Unit Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Peugeot 407 diesel exhibited issues with the preheating lamp not switching off, the check engine light being on, and smoke during acceleration. A diagnostic test indicated a defective glow control unit. The problem was resolved by addressing a bad cable connection to the glow control unit, which was confirmed and fixed by a workshop.

You had the same symptoms, even the smoke? Where exactly was the bad connection you found?

Yep, exact same. I didn't find it myself, I'm no mechanic. But the workshop told me it was the cable or plug connection to the glow control unit. I'd get it checked out.

Thanks! It was indeed the cable. Workshop confirmed it, and fixed it for 95€. Runs like new again.

I had similar issues with my 407 diesel. Have you checked the cable and plug connections to the glow control unit? That can cause those symptoms.
