Peugeot 407 Immobilizer Fault

My 2007 Peugeot 407 (gasoline engine) is having trouble starting. Sometimes it starts briefly then stalls. The error log shows an immobilizer fault. I think it might be incorrect key programming. Has anyone else seen this?

Summary of the thread

A 2007 Peugeot 407 is experiencing starting issues, with the error log indicating an immobilizer fault. The problem might be due to incorrect key programming. A suggested solution is to have the key re-programmed at a professional workshop, which successfully resolved the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my 407. The key signal seemed to be the problem. It's like the car's brain is playing 'now you see me, now you don't' with the key. Did you try the spare key to rule out a faulty transponder in your primary key?

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried the spare key, but it does the same thing. Can you tell me more about how you fixed the key signal problem?

That's a bummer about the spare key! In my case, it was a weird immobilizer glitch that needed a professional. Think of it like trying to unlock a door with the wrong key, even though it looks right. I'd suggest getting the key re-programmed at a trusted shop. It's the safest way to avoid more problems.

I took your advice and had the key re-programmed at a workshop. That fixed it. The repair was 45€, thanks for your help!
