Peugeot 407 Lighting Fault

Hi, I'm having a strange electrical fault with my 2009 Peugeot 407 gasoline. My mileage is at 282846 km. I'm getting a 'Fault in the lighting' warning, and the lights sometimes switch on by themselves. I scanned it, and there's an error stored in the memory related to the light switch. I've checked the obvious things like fuses, but I'm wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar? Could it be the switch itself, or something more sinister, like the fuse box?

Interesting problem. I had something similar with my 407. Have you checked the cable and plug connection of the component? It might be defective. It's a long shot, but worth investigating before you start replacing parts. I'm wondering if the dashboard lights are also acting up?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't specifically checked the cable and plug, just the main connections. Where exactly should I be looking for this cable and plug? And yes, the dashboard lights do seem a bit dimmer than usual sometimes. Could it really be just a bad connection causing all this?

Well, in my case, it was indeed the cable and plug connection! I would definitely start there. However, with the dashboard lights also being affected, it might be worth getting it checked by a workshop. They can pinpoint the issue properly. It cost me 95€ to get it sorted at a local place.

Okay, thanks a lot for the insight! I'll check the cable and plug first thing in the morning. If that doesn't fix it, I'll take it to a workshop. Knowing it's potentially just a bad connection makes me feel a lot better. I appreciate the help!
