Peugeot 407 NOx Catalyst and Exhaust Leak

My 2005 Peugeot 407, gasoline engine, now at 173827 km, throws a check engine light and stores an error related to NOx storage catalyst aging. Also, I hear exhaust leaking. Could a leak cause this NOx issue?

Exhaust leak and NOx issues? Doesn't sound good. How bad is the leak? Could be messing with the sensor readings, yeah?

Sensor readings, huh? So, is it possible that fixing the leak will solve the NOx catalyst issue, or is the catalyst itself probably shot?

Well, I'm no mechanic, but if the leak is big enough to mess with the readings, fixing it might help. But if the catalyst is old, it may be time to go to a workshop.

Thanks. It was indeed an exhaust leak. Repair cost 265€. Seems to have fixed the NOx problem as well.
