Peugeot 407 power window failure

Hi, I'm having a really annoying problem with my 2004 Peugeot 407 (gasoline engine). The power windows have completely stopped working after I replaced the battery! Now, none of the window controls respond, and I've got an error message stored in the car's computer. I've tried the usual tricks I found online, like holding the window switch down for a few seconds, but nothing seems to work. Anyone else experienced this? It's driving me crazy!

Hey, I had a similar issue with my Peugeot 407. Seems like the window regulators sometimes need to be re-initialized after the battery is disconnected. Did you try the initialization procedure? It can be tricky and it does not always work at the first attempt.

Yeah, I tried that, holding the switch down for a few seconds after the window is fully closed, then up again. Is there any special trick to it? Maybe I'm doing it wrong. Is there any specific sequence I need to follow, or does it depend on the 407's year?

Honestly, I struggled with it for ages too. The exact sequence should be in your owner's manual, if you still have it. In my experience, I never managed to do it myself. I ended up just taking it to a workshop. They sorted it out pretty quickly, I think they have a special tool to reset the regulator.

Thanks a lot for your help! I took your advice and went to a local workshop. They said the window regulator needed to be reset using their diagnostic tool. Cost me 290€, but at least the windows are working again. Really appreciate you sharing your experience!
