Peugeot 408 AC failure

I'm getting an error message and the AC won't switch on in my 2016 Peugeot 408 diesel. The error memory indicates a defective temperature sensor in the heat exchanger. Has anyone encountered something similar? I suspect it might be related to the AC control unit.
