Peugeot 408 fuel level sensor fault

I've got a 2022 Peugeot 408 with a gasoline engine, and I'm running into a weird issue. The check engine light keeps popping on, and sometimes the engine stalls when I'm idling. I scanned it, and it's throwing a fuel level sensor fault. I checked the obvious stuff, like looking for a dedicated fuse for the fuel system, but I can't find one. Any ideas?

That's frustrating! I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra, although the symptoms were a bit different. It turned out to be a faulty sensor connection. The dashboard fuel gauge showed empty when the tank was still half full. Have you checked the wiring harness and the connector to the fuel level sensor for corrosion or damage? Sometimes a loose connection can cause these intermittent issues.

Thanks for the tip! Where exactly is the fuel level sensor located? I've been poking around, but I can't seem to pinpoint it. Is it accessible without dropping the fuel tank, or am I in for a bigger job?

Unfortunately, it's usually integrated with the fuel pump inside the fuel tank. So yes, accessing it likely means dropping the tank, which isn't a small job. While you're at it, also inspect the fuel pump itself. Considering the error and mileage, you might be better off having a workshop take a look. They have the right equipment to diagnose it properly. I ended up spending 52€ for parts.

Okay, that's what I was afraid of. I appreciate the advice. I'll take it to a mechanic to get it checked. I guess sometimes it's best to leave it to the pros. Thanks for your help!
