Peugeot 408 Hybrid Undervoltage Issue

I'm reporting an issue with my 2023 Peugeot 408 Hybrid. I've observed an undervoltage situation, evidenced by poor vehicle starts, intermittent system failures, weak or flickering lights, and a weak battery during engine start. My vehicle currently has 272590 km on the odometer. Could this be due to a heavily discharged or defective battery?

Summary of the thread

The 2023 Peugeot 408 Hybrid is experiencing an undervoltage issue, indicated by poor starts, intermittent system failures, and flickering lights. The problem is suspected to be due to a heavily discharged or defective battery. A suggestion was made to check the alternator's functionality using a multimeter to ensure it's charging properly. Ultimately, a workshop diagnosis confirmed the battery was defective and required replacement.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Whoa, that sounds like a real electrical gremlin! Weak starts and flickering lights are never a good sign. Could be the battery, but have you checked the alternator? If it's not charging properly, it'll drain the battery like a vampire! How old is the battery? Maybe it's just lived its life.

Regarding the alternator, is there a straightforward method to assess its functionality? I am also curious whether measuring the battery voltage during engine operation would provide valuable insights.

Think of the alternator as the heart, constantly pumping juice back into the battery. A simple multimeter test while the engine's running should tell you if it's putting out the right voltage – usually around 13.5-14.5V. But honestly, with all those electrical issues popping up, especially on a hybrid, it might be worth visiting a workshop to get a proper diagnosis. You don't wanna fry anything important!

After taking your insights into account, I proceeded to a qualified workshop for a comprehensive diagnostic assessment. It was ultimately determined that the battery was heavily discharged and defective, necessitating replacement. The total cost amounted to 290€.
