Peugeot 408 oil pressure warning

Hi, I've got a 2020 Peugeot 408 gasoline with 120k km on it. Recently, the oil pressure warning light has been coming on, and I'm hearing some pretty nasty mechanical noises from the engine. I checked the oil level, and it's fine. Could it be the oil filter or something else?

Hey! I also drive a 408 and had something similar happen last year. The low oil pressure light is scary! Did the noise sound like it was coming from the bottom of the engine?

Yeah, the noise definitely seems to be coming from the lower part of the engine. What was the issue with yours? Was it expensive to fix?

That's what I thought. In my case, it was a faulty oil pump. It caused low oil pressure, and if left unfixed, it can damage the engine bearings. Best get it checked at a workshop ASAP.

Thanks for the heads-up! I took it to the shop, and you were right – it was the oil pump. Cost me 755€ to replace, but better than a ruined engine. Appreciate the advice!
