Peugeot 5008 AC Compressor Failure

My 2019 Peugeot 5008 with a gasoline engine has an A/C compressor that seems dead at 278576 km. The A/C doesn't switch on, and it's not cooling. My OBD scanner shows an A/C error. I've checked the A/C system fuses, and they're fine. Could this be a pressure switch or a compressor issue? Any ideas before I start taking things apart?

Summary of the thread

The 2019 Peugeot 5008's A/C compressor failure was initially suspected to be due to a pressure switch or compressor issue, as the A/C wasn't cooling and an error was detected via an OBD scanner. After ruling out fuse problems, the possibility of undervoltage was suggested, which was confirmed by measuring voltage at the compressor terminals. The issue was traced to a faulty connection in the wiring harness, and the repair was successfully completed at a workshop.

I had a similar issue with my old Volvo V70. The A/C was cutting out, and there was an error code. It turned out to be undervoltage causing the compressor to shut off. Have you checked the voltage at the A/C compressor when the engine is running? Also, inspect the belt tensioner and the belt itself. A slipping belt could prevent the compressor from engaging. Any odd noises coming from that area?

Undervoltage, huh? I haven't checked the voltage directly at the compressor yet. Where did you measure the voltage on your Volvo? Was it at the compressor terminals or somewhere else in the A/C system's wiring? The belt seems okay, but I will check the belt tensioner. Were there any other symptoms with your Volvo?

I measured directly at the compressor terminals with a multimeter while the engine was running and the A/C was switched on. The voltage was significantly lower than the battery voltage. Given that you have already ruled out fuses, and if the belt and tensioner appear to be in good order, I would recommend taking your Peugeot to a workshop for a proper diagnosis. Undervoltage issues can be tricky to pinpoint without the right equipment.

Thanks a lot for the help! I took it to the workshop as suggested. It was indeed an undervoltage issue causing the A/C compressor to shut off! They traced it back to a faulty connection in the wiring harness. Repair cost was 240€, so not too bad in the end. I really appreciate your advice!
