Peugeot 5008 Automatic Transmission Issue

Yes, that is correct. The car does not recognize that it is in Park, so the engine will not start. I suspected it might be related to the shift lock. Is the shift lock solenoid difficult to replace? Could a faulty neutral position sensor cause the same issue?

Replacing the shift lock solenoid can be tricky, as it often requires removing parts of the console or accessing the transmission. Regarding the neutral position sensor, yes, that could also cause similar issues. It tells the car if it's in neutral, which is also needed to start. However, given the error code and the shifting problems, the control unit is the more likely culprit. In my case with the Opel, it turned out to be the transmission control module. I ended up taking it to a workshop. Given your symptoms, I would advise you to do the same. It cost me around 1000€ to repair.

Thank you very much for the information and advice. It is very helpful to hear from someone who has experienced a similar issue. I will take your suggestion and bring the Peugeot to a trusted mechanic for a proper diagnosis and repair. Based on what you and the diagnostic tool reported, I will ask them to check the control unit first. I appreciate your help!

I had a similar problem with my old Opel Insignia. The symptoms sound familiar. When you say 'parking position defective,' do you mean the car doesn't recognize when it's in Park, preventing it from starting? It could be a faulty shift lock solenoid or a problem with the gear linkage. The solenoid is an electrical component that prevents you from shifting out of park without pressing the brake pedal. If it fails, it can cause the issues you are describing.
