Peugeot 5008 Auxiliary Heater Problem

I'm encountering an issue with my 2018 Peugeot 5008, gasoline engine. The auxiliary heater refuses to activate, and the diagnostic tool reveals an error stored in the memory. I've checked the relevant fuses, and they appear to be in good order. Given the symptoms, I suspect a faulty glow plug within the auxiliary heater unit itself. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm aiming to avoid unnecessary dismantling of the ventilation system.

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Peugeot 5008 is experiencing an issue where the auxiliary heater won't activate, with a diagnostic tool indicating an error. The fuses have been checked and are in good condition, leading to the suspicion of a faulty glow plug within the auxiliary heater unit. Despite the blower motor functioning normally, the problem persists. The suggested solution is to have the glow plug checked and potentially replaced by a professional mechanic to resolve the issue.

Whoa, glow plugs on the fritz in the auxiliary heater? Sounds plausible. Had a similar gremlin in my old Citroen C4 Picasso some moons ago. Tell me, are you getting any strange whirring noises from the blower motor beforehand? And have you checked the heater core for any signs of blockages? Just throwing some spaghetti at the wall here.

Thank you for the swift response! Regarding the blower motor, its operation seems normal, no unusual noises detected. I haven't yet inspected the heater core directly. Could a partially blocked heater core truly prevent the activation of the auxiliary heater? I thought its primary effect would be diminished heating performance, rather than a complete system shutdown.

Alright, with the blower motor sounding okay, heater core blockage is less likely to be the sole culprit. However, these systems are often interconnected, and strange things happen. Given the error code and the glow plug suspicion, you're probably on the right track. I'd advise, reluctantly, to bite the bullet and get it checked at a reputable workshop. They have the tools to properly diagnose the auxiliary heating system. It's gonna be around 440€, all in with parts and labour.

I appreciate the confirmation and insights. It appears my initial assessment was accurate. I've scheduled an appointment with a trusted mechanic to replace the glow plug. Hopefully, this resolves the issue without further complications! Thanks again.
