Peugeot 5008 diesel engine won't start
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Peugeot 5008 diesel engine experienced starting issues, stalling at idle, rough running, high fuel consumption, and a check engine light, with an error code suggesting a fuel pump problem. Initial checks of the fuel injector and system were inconclusive, but further investigation revealed a defective fuel pump, possibly due to a faulty cable or plug connection. After replacing the fuel pump, the vehicle's performance returned to normal.

Relay seems fine. Fuel pressure is within spec initially, then drops off sharply when the engine is running. Error points to fuel pump itself. Resistance of cable or plug connection of the component defective?

Given those symptoms and the error code, I'd concur that the fuel pump is the most likely culprit. I understand that the resistance of cable or plug connection of the component defective, but I would suggest you take the car to a trusted workshop and ask them to verify the diagnosis. Sometimes, even with seemingly conclusive evidence, other underlying issues can contribute. It's best to have a professional confirm before replacing the pump.

Thanks for the input. Confirmed defective fuel pump. Cable or plug connection of the component defective. Replaced, total cost 95€. Runs like new.

I had a similar issue with my Peugeot 5008, though mine's petrol. Stalling, rough idle, and the check engine light were all present. Have you checked the fuel pump relay? It's a common failure point. Also, have you confirmed the fuel pressure at the rail? A faulty relay or wiring issue could cause low pressure, mimicking a pump failure. Please check the error code stored in the system for detailed information.
