Peugeot 5008 Engine Power Loss

I've got a 2018 Peugeot 5008 with a gasoline engine that's giving me some grief. It's done almost 200000 km. The check engine light is on, and I'm experiencing reduced engine power, sluggish response, and what seems like higher fuel consumption. I suspect it might be the manifold pressure sensor. Anyone else had similar issues?

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Peugeot 5008 with nearly 200,000 km is experiencing engine power loss, sluggish response, and increased fuel consumption, with the check engine light on. The initial suspicion was a faulty manifold pressure sensor. However, a vacuum leak was identified as the likely cause, particularly affecting manifold pressure readings. A workshop confirmed a cracked hose and replaced both the hose and the manifold pressure sensor, resolving the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I've encountered something comparable with my 5008, although I can't say the mileage lines up exactly. The symptoms you describe—the engine light, power loss, and increased fuel usage—point towards a potential vacuum leak affecting the manifold pressure readings. Before condemning the sensor, have you checked for any obvious signs of vacuum hose damage or disconnections?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't thoroughly checked for vacuum leaks yet, but I'll definitely prioritize that. Is there a specific area in the engine bay where these leaks are more common on the 5008, or are there any specific hoses that are known to fail?

While there isn't a single, universally weak point, I would advise a careful inspection of all vacuum lines, particularly those connected to the intake manifold and the brake booster. Given the age and mileage of your vehicle, it might be prudent to have a workshop perform a smoke test to pinpoint any leaks that are not immediately visible. It seems like a large leak. A faulty MAP sensor should throw a code but may not trigger this kind of severe behaviour.

Alright, thanks for the advice. I finally brought it in to a workshop. You were spot on about the vacuum leak. They found a cracked hose, replaced the manifold pressure sensor and the hose. Total cost was 235€. Runs like new now!
