Peugeot 5008 Engine Power Loss and Smoke
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Peugeot 5008 with a gasoline engine is experiencing engine power loss, a check engine light, and smoke during acceleration. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the crankcase ventilation valve, possibly a defective PCV valve, which can cause increased emissions and smoke. It is recommended to have the vehicle inspected and repaired by a qualified workshop to ensure proper diagnosis and avoid further complications.

Rough idle sometimes, yes. Where exactly is the PCV valve located, and is it something I could check myself without special tools?

While some individuals with mechanical aptitude might consider a DIY approach, I would not advise that in this case. The crankcase ventilation system is crucial for emissions control and proper engine function. A malfunctioning valve can indeed lead to the symptoms you described. Given the mileage and the potential for further complications, I strongly suggest taking your Peugeot to a qualified workshop for diagnosis and repair to avoid any collateral damage and ensure optimum vehicle performance. If it indeed is the crankcase ventilation valve, expect a repair cost in the neighborhood of 360€ including labor and parts.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on – crankcase ventilation valve was defective. They replaced it, and everything is running smoothly now. Appreciate the help!

I had a similar issue with my Peugeot 5008. Is the idle rough as well? Those symptoms do point towards a crankcase ventilation problem. It could be a defective PCV valve causing increased emissions and the smoke you're seeing. Have you checked for any vacuum leaks around the valve cover?
