Peugeot 5008 engine power loss hissing noise

I'm having a weird issue with my 2010 Peugeot 5008 gasoline engine. The check engine light comes on and off, engine power is down, and the response is sluggish. I hear a whistling noise that turns into a loud hiss when I accelerate. Sometimes the engine stalls when idling, and I'm burning way more fuel. The car has 233846 km on it. Could this be the turbo wastegate or the boost pressure sensor?

Those symptoms point to a problem with the boost pressure control system. Has it had any maintenance or diagnostics recently? Have you checked the electrical bypass valve for damage?

Without diagnostic codes, it's hard to be sure, but a defective electrical bypass valve seems likely given the symptoms. I'd recommend a workshop visit. A bad electrical bypass valve can cause those issues and repair isn't normally that expensive.

Thanks for the advice. I booked an appointment and it was the valve. Cost around 250€ to replace.
