Peugeot 5008 ignition issues

Hey, I'm having a strange issue with my 2011 Peugeot 5008, gasoline engine. It's got about 151k km on it. Sometimes it won't start, other times it shuts off while I'm driving, and sometimes it just runs really rough. I've checked the battery and the fuel pump seems fine. Could it be something with the ignition?

Sounds like a frustrating problem! When it won't start, do you hear the starter motor trying to turn the engine over, or is it completely silent? And when it shuts off, does it happen suddenly, like someone flipped a switch, or does it sputter and die? Also, have you checked the fuses? A defective fuse could cause weird ignition issues.

Thanks for the quick reply! When it doesn't start, it's completely silent, no sound from the starter at all. And when it shuts off, it's pretty sudden, like flipping a switch, as you said. I haven't checked the fuses yet – any idea which one I should be looking at, or is it a general check-all-the-fuses kind of job?

Okay, silent starter and sudden shut-off points more towards an electrical issue. Checking all the fuses is a good start, but focus on those related to the ignition system and engine management. Given the symptoms, it could be the ignition switch itself. It's like a central command center for starting the car. If it's failing intermittently, it can cause these problems. I'd advise getting it checked at a workshop.

Thanks for the help! I took it to a shop, and it turned out to be a defective fuse related to the ignition switch, just like you said! The replacement cost was only 52€, so I'm happy it wasn't anything more serious.
