Peugeot 5008 Overheating Error

Hi, I've got a 2010 Peugeot 5008, gasoline engine, with 116569 km on the clock. Recently, I'm getting an 'Error stored in the error memory' message and the engine seems to be overheating. I scanned the codes and it points to a bypass valve malfunction. I've checked the valve itself, and it seems okay, but I suspect it might be a consequential error resulting from something else in the exhaust system. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2010 Peugeot 5008 was experiencing an overheating error, with a diagnostic scan indicating a bypass valve malfunction. Despite the valve appearing functional, the issue was suspected to be linked to another component in the exhaust system. It was suggested that a faulty sensor might be causing the error indirectly. Upon further inspection by a technician, a faulty temperature sensor was identified as the root cause, and replacing it resolved the issue.

I understand you're experiencing difficulties with your Peugeot 5008. Given the symptoms and error code, could you please elaborate on any other performance issues you might have noticed, such as power loss or engine stalling? This information could assist in narrowing down the root cause of the bypass valve malfunction.

Thanks for the quick reply! Regarding performance, I haven't noticed any significant power loss or engine stalling, to be honest. The car drives relatively normally, except for the overheating and the error message. Could a faulty sensor somewhere else in the system trigger the bypass valve error, even if the valve itself is fine?

Considering the absence of noticeable performance degradation, and given that the diagnostic information indicates a bypass valve issue, it's certainly plausible that a faulty sensor is the primary source of the problem, triggering the bypass valve error indirectly. In such a scenario, it would be prudent to consult a qualified automotive technician for a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation.

Thanks a lot for the advice! You've confirmed my suspicions. I took it to the workshop, and you were right. It was a faulty temperature sensor that was causing the bypass valve error. Replacing the sensor fixed the issue, and it didn't cost me anything since it was under warranty!
