Peugeot 5008 running rich

My 2018 Peugeot 5008 (gasoline engine) is running super rich. Only 41128 km on the clock! Reduced power, check engine light, rough running, fuel economy is terrible, and it's jerking like crazy when I accelerate. Sounds like a defective injector, right? Anyone seen this before?

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Peugeot 5008 with a gasoline engine is experiencing issues such as running rich, reduced power, a check engine light, rough running, poor fuel economy, and jerking during acceleration. The problem is suspected to be a defective fuel injector, which can cause excessive fuel to enter the engine. Suggested solutions include checking and potentially replacing faulty injectors and inspecting spark plugs for fouling. Ultimately, a faulty injector was identified and replaced, along with an engine flush and new spark plugs, resolving the issue.

Whoa, sounds rough! I had similar issues with my old Opel Corsa. Check engine light, rough running, the whole shebang. For me, it turned out to be faulty fuel injectors. Think of it like a leaky faucet – too much fuel getting in, messing everything up. Have you checked your spark plugs? Fouled plugs can also cause similar symptoms and can be a knock-on effect from the rich running. If those are black and sooty, that's another clue!

Spark plugs, huh? Good shout! I'll check 'em tomorrow. But if it is the injectors, is that a 'replace all' situation, or can you get away with just doing the dodgy one? I'm trying to keep the repair cost down, obviously!

With the injectors, it’s a bit like tires: some just replace the one that's gone, but the pros usually advise doing them all. Thing is, if one's gone, the others might be on their way out too. However, I'm just some random guy on the internet. Definitely take it to a workshop and let them diagnose it properly. They can test the injectors individually. They should be able to pinpoint the culprit and advise on the best course of action.

You were spot on! Took it to the shop, and it was a dodgy injector. They replaced the faulty injector, did an engine flush, and fitted new spark plugs as well. Cost me 515€, but she's running like a dream again. Thanks for the advice!
