Thanks. The car was serviced about 5000 km ago. I do a mix of city and highway driving, but recently it's been more short city trips. Could that be a factor, maybe with the DPF regeneration? Anything I should know?

Yes, short trips can stop the DPF from regenerating properly, causing a build-up. However, the low pressure reading suggests a faulty sensor. It could also be an exhaust leak before the DPF. Given the symptoms, a workshop visit is a good idea for diagnosis and repair.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop. You were right, the exhaust back pressure sensor was defective, causing the low pressure reading and other symptoms. The repair was 245€, including parts and labor. Thanks again for your help.

I had similar symptoms with my 508, though I didn't check the pressure myself. Smoke and a strong smell aren't normal. Has the car been serviced recently? Are you doing mostly city driving?
