Peugeot 508 electronic parking brake failure

I'm experiencing a perplexing issue with my 2012 Peugeot 508, gasoline engine. The electronic parking brake has ceased functioning. There's an error message and a persistent warning light on the speedometer. At 28609 km, I suspect a complex problem. Could this be a defective electric motor within the brake calliper, or a faulty brake sensor?

Hey! I had a similar issue with my 508. The electric handbrake went totally kaput. Was there any weird noise before it failed?

I did not observe any unusual noises preceding the malfunction. Could you elaborate on the specifics of your experience and whether it also triggered a brake fault warning?

Yep, brake fault light came on. Ended up being the motor in the caliper, just like you're thinking. Honestly, get it checked at a workshop. Messing with brakes isn't worth the risk.

I consulted a workshop based on your advice, and the diagnosis confirmed a defective electric motor in the brake calliper. The repair cost amounted to 505€. Thank you again for sharing your experience; it proved invaluable.
