Peugeot 508 engine misfire

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2012 Peugeot 508 hybrid with about 138k km on it. Recently, the engine has started running unevenly. The check engine light is on, and I'm getting error codes related to engine misfire. It also jerks noticeably when accelerating. I suspect it might be a leak in the exhaust system. Any ideas what to check first? I was thinking maybe fuel injectors or ignition coil, but not sure if it could be the air filter or the oxygen sensor instead.

Dude, that sounds super familiar! I've got a 508, too, though I can't remember what year. I had something similar happen – the jerking was driving me crazy. Misfires are a pain and can be caused by so many things! Did the error code give any specifics, like which cylinder is misfiring? Could be anything from a bad spark plug to something more serious. Let me know, maybe I can help more!

Thanks for the quick reply! The error code pointed to a general misfire, so nothing specific unfortunately. I have a mechanic friend who said fuel injectors could be the culprit. Did you have the same uncertainty? Have you checked anything else before fixing the issue?

Ugh, 'general misfire' is the worst! Yeah, I had the same uncertainty! It was driving me insane, so I went straight to a workshop. I know that's not ideal, especially if you like to get your hands dirty, but honestly, it saved me so much time and frustration. They checked a bunch of stuff. I really hated the process, but I had to get it done. Best of luck!

Thanks, I appreciate the suggestion! I'll take your experience to heart and visit a workshop. They checked the exhaust system and found a leak. Cost me 265€ to repair, and now it runs smoothly again!
