Interesting! So, with your Volvo, what exactly was 'incorrect coding'? I'm not really clued up on that sort of thing. Is it something I can fix myself, or am I looking at a trip to the garage?

Well, in my case, the 'incorrect coding' referred to a mismatch in the car's configuration data. The car's various computer modules (ECUs) need to 'talk' to each other, and if their coding is out of sync, it can trigger errors. Honestly, unless you have specialist diagnostic equipment and software, it's really best left to a professional. Incorrectly changing the coding could cause more issues than it solves! I would suggest going to the workshop.

Thanks so much for the info! I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on – the coding was indeed incorrect. Cost me 360€ to sort out, but at least the error messages are gone now. Appreciate the advice!

I had a somewhat comparable experience with my old Volvo V60 a few years back. I was getting a persistent 'check engine' light, or malfunction indicator, and messages flashing on the dash. I scanned it using an OBD-II scan tool, and it revealed a fault code pointing towards incorrect coding. It could be a software glitch or a misconfiguration somewhere. Sometimes, these things happen after a software refresh or if a module hasn't been properly initialized.
