Peugeot 508 Hissing Sound

My 2015 Peugeot 508 hybrid is acting up. I'm getting higher fuel consumption, the check engine light is on, and there's this loud hissing sound when I accelerate. It's got about 64442 km on the clock. I'm thinking it might be an air intake leak somewhere? Checked around the air filter box, but can't pinpoint anything obvious. Any ideas?

Hmm, that hissing sound is a worry. I had a similar issue with my Peugeot 508, although it wasn't a hybrid. Check your intake hose that runs from the air filter to the throttle body. They can crack and leak, especially with age. Does the hissing get worse when you rev the engine?

Yeah, the hissing definitely gets louder when I give it some gas. I'll check that intake hose more closely. Where exactly should I be looking for cracks? Is it usually obvious, or are we talking hairline fractures?

Mine was pretty obvious once I found it - a split along one of the ridges. But hairline cracks are possible too. If you can't see anything, try running your hand along the hose while the engine is idling (carefully!). You might feel air escaping. Honestly, with those symptoms, especially the check engine light, it's probably worth getting it checked out by a workshop.
