Peugeot 508 Hissing Sound
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Peugeot 508 hybrid is experiencing higher fuel consumption, a check engine light, and a loud hissing sound during acceleration. The suspected cause is an air intake leak, possibly from a cracked intake hose. After checking the intake hose, a split was found, confirming the issue. Replacing the hose resolved the problem, restoring normal vehicle function.

Yeah, the hissing definitely gets louder when I give it some gas. I'll check that intake hose more closely. Where exactly should I be looking for cracks? Is it usually obvious, or are we talking hairline fractures?

Mine was pretty obvious once I found it - a split along one of the ridges. But hairline cracks are possible too. If you can't see anything, try running your hand along the hose while the engine is idling (carefully!). You might feel air escaping. Honestly, with those symptoms, especially the check engine light, it's probably worth getting it checked out by a workshop.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. Turns out it was indeed the intake hose. Replaced it, cost me about 100€, and everything's running smoothly again. Appreciate the help!

Hmm, that hissing sound is a worry. I had a similar issue with my Peugeot 508, although it wasn't a hybrid. Check your intake hose that runs from the air filter to the throttle body. They can crack and leak, especially with age. Does the hissing get worse when you rev the engine?
