No recent bodywork, and I don't think anything snagged the mirrors. Where exactly should I be looking for these cable and plug connections?

Okay, if there's no obvious physical damage, then it's most likely a wiring issue within the mirror housing itself or where the mirror connects to the car's wiring harness. These are often delicate connections prone to corrosion, so checking them requires removing the mirror glass and potentially the mirror housing. Given there is a stored error it could also be a fault in the Body Control Module. I would advise taking it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose the fault and repair it.

Thanks for the info! I took it to a workshop. It was indeed a faulty plug connection, just like you suspected. Repair cost 95€. Appreciate the help!

Mirror heating failing on both sides and an error code stored? It does sound electrical. Think of it like a circuit in your house; if a light isn't working, you check the bulb (fuse), then the switch, and finally the wiring. The most common fault with mirror heating on Peugeots is a defective cable or plug connection. Has the car had any recent bodywork or has anything snagged the mirrors?
