Peugeot 508 MOST bus fault

Hi, I'm having a strange issue with my 2019 Peugeot 508 hybrid. The audio system, including the navigation, has completely stopped working. There's no sound at all, and the navigation screen is just blank. I ran a diagnostic and it's showing a MOST bus fault, and the error memory has stored this error. From what I've read, this could be a problem with one of the control units on the MOST bus, which handles data transmission for the audio and navigation. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Hello! I also own a Peugeot 508, and your problem sounds very familiar. The MOST bus is essentially a fiber optic network used for transmitting data between different modules in your car, like the radio, amplifier, navigation, etc. When there's a break or a fault in this 'ring,' it can knock out the whole system. Did the diagnostic specify which control unit is causing the error?

Thanks for the quick response! No, unfortunately, the diagnostic report wasn't specific about which control unit is at fault. It just mentioned a general MOST bus error. Is there any way to pinpoint the faulty unit without replacing everything? I'm trying to avoid unnecessary costs.

I understand your concern. In my case, the diagnostic didn't pinpoint the exact unit either. Replacing components blindly on a MOST bus system can be very expensive. I'd strongly recommend taking your 508 to a workshop that specializes in car diagnostics and bus systems. They should have the proper equipment to isolate the problem and perform targeted repairs. I ended up paying around 1000€, but it saved me from potentially replacing multiple modules.

Okay, that's really helpful advice. It sounds like a visit to a specialist is the best course of action. I appreciate you sharing your experience and the cost involved. I'll take it to a workshop with expertise in car diagnostics and bus networks as you suggested. Thank you!
