Peugeot 607 ABS Fault Lateral Acceleration Sensor

ABS light on my 2005 Peugeot 607 diesel. The ABS lamp illuminated, and a scan revealed an error related to the lateral acceleration sensor. Could a defective control unit be the cause?

The symptoms point towards a potential issue with the lateral acceleration sensor or its control unit. The error memory storing the fault code is a strong indicator. Have you noticed any specific driving conditions when the ABS light illuminates, or does it appear consistently upon starting? Perhaps the Yaw rate data needs to be checked?

The ABS lamp illuminates intermittently, and I haven't identified a specific driving condition that triggers it. Should I get a more detailed diagnostic to confirm the defective control unit, or replace the lateral acceleration sensor?

Given the intermittent fault and the stored error code, a deeper diagnostic dive is warranted, though it may be challenging to pinpoint the exact moment of failure. Based on similar cases, it's highly probable that the control unit is the source of the problem. Replacing the sensor will likely not fix it, and I recommend taking your car to a workshop.

I will take the vehicle to a reputable workshop for diagnosis and potential replacement of the control unit. The estimated repair cost of 1000€ is significant, but I understand it's necessary for the ABS system's safety and function. The defective control unit was indeed the problem.
