Peugeot 607 Engine Stalling Jerking

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2004 Peugeot 607, gasoline engine. It's got about 53k km on the clock. Recently, the engine's been running really rough, and it even stalls sometimes when I'm idling. The check engine light is also on, and I'm experiencing some pretty noticeable jerking when accelerating. I've checked the spark plugs, and they seem okay. Could it be an ignition coil issue? Maybe a defective cable or plug connection?

Hey! Rough running, stalling, check engine light, and jerking definitely point to a possible ignition issue. Has it been hesitating at all? You might want to get a vehicle diagnostics check to confirm. Which cylinder seems to be misfiring?

Thanks for the quick reply! I don't have the equipment to check which cylinder is misfiring. Is there a way to tell without the diagnostic tool? Also, what exactly should I be looking for during the vehicle diagnostics check?

Without the tool, it's tough to pinpoint the exact cylinder. The diagnostics check should read out any error codes related to the ignition system. Given the symptoms and your initial thoughts, it does sound like a coil pack. Honestly, at this point, it’s probably best to take it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose it and replace the faulty coil.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to a local workshop. Turns out it was indeed a defective ignition coil, just as we suspected. They replaced it, along with a faulty connector, and the car is running smoothly again. Total cost was 95€ Appreciate your help!
